My Toxin Cleanse: An Odyssey in 21 Days

So it was a hell of a holiday season.

Christmas cookies, birthday dinners, New Year's Celebrations.  Bone Marrow, Foie Gras, Lobster, Sunchoke Bisque, Short Ribs, Lamb, Wild Mushroom Ravioli.  The list goes on and on.

And it would appear, my waist line goes on and on as well.

So I decided to do a cleanse to set things right.

I toyed with doing that whole Master Cleanse thing, but the thought of not chewing for 10 days made me want to urp.  Plus I knew that whatever weight I lost would soon go back on once I started eating again.  Fortunately, Connecticut's favorite daughter, Martha Stewart, has worked with a couple of doctors and vegetarian chefs over at her new magazine, Whole Living, to create a plan to rid the body of the yucky stuff and, hopefully, allow you to drop a few in the process.

Beet, Apple, and Mint Juice

I've been on this sucker for one day, and it's surprisingly easy (so far) and incredibly delicious.  So, my culinary improvisation will be limited these days, but I will still be sending love out over the interweb and chronicle my journey (as if you really cared, but I've got to do something as a cheese substitute).

If'n you want to join me, feel free!

Cleanse away!

A Warm Breakfast in 10 Minutes

I'm not the biggest fan of breakfast, but sometimes you just need a little love in the morning.

I warmed up my leftover polenta, sauteed some spinach with a little garlic and poached me an egg.

Ten minutes.  Done.

What are your breakfast shortcuts?
